Kadlec has an exciting opportunity for a Biomed Technician to join our growing Clinical Engineering team located in Richland, Washington!

Shift Details: Full time, 1 FTE, Day Shift


Minimum Requirements:

  • Associate Degree in Biomedical Equipment Technology from an accredited educational institution and completion of an internship required. Five (5) years’ experience in the biomedical field may be substituted in lieu of a degree.

  • Current Valid Washington State Driver’s License required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Biomedical Technology from an accredited educational institution preferred.

  • Three (3) years biomedical field experience preferred.

  • Association for Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI) Certification -or certification eligible- preferred. (Certifications may be one of the following: CBET, CLES, CRES, CCE).

  • Bi-lingual or multi-lingual skills

Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

As a Biomed Technician you will perform technical work skilled in installation, calibration, maintenance and repair of medical and non-medical equipment and orders parts; Assist with purchase orders, product sourcing, vendor communication and documents work; and perform related duties as assigned.

  • Demonstrate and sustain compliance with Kadlec Caregiver Expectations Standard of Excellence and Code of Conduct

  • Performs planned maintenance inspections on electronic, pneumatic, electro-mechanical and mechanical equipment according to manufacturer's recommended procedures and the departmental policies and procedures.

  • Tests some equipment which does not have specific procedures consistent with knowledge and experience.

  • Troubleshoots, identifies source of problem to system, board or component level as appropriate and cost effective, and repairs electronic, pneumatic, electro-mechanical and mechanical equipment.

  • Makes on-site repairs consistent with department policies and procedures. Receives, inventories, assembles and installs equipment and coordinates efforts with appropriate supervisors.

  • Tests and calibrates all equipment to manufacturer's specifications and departmental policies and procedures following incoming inspections, planned maintenance or repair work• Work closely with vendors, manufacturers, and clients on scheduling and completion of planned maintenance, repairs, and verifies the documentation that work was performed and up-to-date.

  • Interpret test results, decides whether equipment is safe and accurate for continued use, makes modifications to test procedures as needed to assure safety and accuracy of equipment consistent with knowledge and experience.

  • Maintain required records, reports, and statistics; follows department policies and procedures regarding documentation of all work performed.

  • Drive hospital's vehicle out of town to provide outside services or attend authorized meetings or service schools.

  • Assist with training new Biomedical and Radiology Equipment Technicians and instructs other staff in the use of new equipment. May supervise other Biomedical and Radiology Equipment Technicians as assigned by Manager of Clinical Engineering.

  • Assist with service contract evaluations and negotiations as assigned by Manager of Clinical Engineering.

  • Investigate and document safe medical device incidents as assigned by Manager of Clinical Engineering.

  • Participate in unit and house-wide quality improvement activities in order to improve patient care and comply with regulatory groups such as Leapfrog and Core Measures.

  • Adhere to standard policies as outlined in department related to infection control, fire and safety, hazardous chemicals, personnel policies and departmental procedures.

  • Operate a vehicle.
